This collection is extremely relevant to what is currently taking place in mens fashion. I appreciate how effortlessly Anthony Vaccarello (current creative director at YSL) and his design team integrated the current street style trends into the collection while still maintaining the integrity of the brands core Parisian aesthetic.
Below I’ve featured some of my top picks from the new collection.
I love how this jacket is structured like a varsity letterman jacket. At first glance it looks very much like a military inspired piece due to the olive green color and brass buttons. The patches also bring an interesting element to the garment. Overall a fresh look on an old classic.
There is something very endearing about this jacket. From the 1960’s ivy league feel to the embroidered “Je t’aime” this jacket captures those feels of being young and in love.
This is single handedly my absolute favorite piece in the entire collection. I literally love everything about it. From the distressed look of the leather to the strategically placed patches, this biker jacket is an incredibly fresh and fun twist on such an iconic staple.
The overall theme in this collection is the transformation of classic timeless pieces into something youthful and modern. This military parka is no different. If this jacket was made in an olive green color it would read too authentic to it’s military inspiration. The fact that it was done in black makes the jacket much more polished and slick.
Backpacks have made a massive comeback in higher end fashion so I’m glad to see that YSL included their own interpretation for this collection.
In this video I’ve gone through my collection of sunglasses and I’ve picked out the six boldest pairs that I currently own.
Some of these glasses I’ve purchased recently.. and others I’ve had for a while.. however.. If you like any of the sunglasses featured in this video I will leave the style name/number below for you to look them up.
1. Mykita | “Franz” in Matte Black
2. Saint Laurent | SL37 SURF
3. Gucci | GG0062S
4. Thierry Lasry | “Staminy”
5. Versace | Mod. 2150-Q
6. Versace | Mod. 2180
I like the throwback look and subtle details of these high tops from Saint Laurent’s A/W 2017 collection.
This look is composed of modern day classic pieces that truly go the distance.
Saint Laurent | Classic Biker Jacket
Biker Jackets are incredibly versatile and are perfect for the guy who wants to look effortlessly cool without having to spend heaps of time mixing and matching. Key things to look for in a biker jacket are cut and unique detailing (for example: distressing, embellishments, appliqués, or detailed stitching to name a few).
What makes this Saint Laurent biker jacket special are all of the insane details put into it. From the metal studs strategically placed on the lapel and collar to give the jacket a little edge.. to the deconstructed metal YSL signature on the side pocket, this jacket is the perfect blend of classic with a fresh modern edgy twist.
AMI | Coucou Paris Tee Shirt
It’s always nice to have some fun with your wardrobe. I absolutely love the look and the saying on this AMI shirt. “Coucou” is a French colloquialism and on the shirt translates to “Hello Paris.”
Tiger of Sweden | Denim
Scandinavian brands invented the recipe for a killer pair of skinny jeans (and yes I may be slightly biased). This pair of skinnies from Tiger of Sweden are no disappointment. From the flattering cut, to the dark wash stretch fabric, these jeans are a staple that you can dress up for a night out or dress them down for running errands around town.
Saint Laurent | Suede Ankle Boots
These suede ankle boots are the perfect marriage between youthful and sophisticated. Perfect when paired with a pair of dark denim skinny jeans (like in todays look) but just as nice when paired with a fitted pair of chinos or a smart pair of fitted trousers.
Sunglasses | Aviators
If your go to style in sunglasses is an aviator shape.. you are absolutely going to obsess over these. I love the subtle details that makes these sunglasses unique and just noticeably different. Not to mention the style is sharp and slightly oversized to give you that mysterious celebrity allure.
